Addicted Ignorance…

September 13, 2010 18 comments

So, since quitting smoking, then starting, quitting, starting, quitting (yes, this has been an ongoing problem) I have been thinking a lot about addiction and issues of the like. Here are the results of my heavy concentration and occassional one-track mindedness.

anger pulsing,
in my head a beat box
cacophony raging unchecked
behind narrowed vision,
half blind as desire
takes over,
well-being tossed out
to proverbial curb, forgotten
left for death in festering gutters
next to homeless drunks passed out upon
soaked sheets of week old New York Times
ever appearing dead as sun creeps ever higher,
passed out next to my better judgment
now slathered in yellow puke
and green sewer slime
while I am off feeding addiction
needed to temper my bubbling rage,
the lava building slowly subsides,
failing to explode… today…
but what of tomorrow?
or the next?

Apple Doom

spherically resting
in reddish green
hues, broken
appendage, slightly
rotten, still
juicy dripping
upon meaningless
pages, red words
like an omen,
prophesied, left to
die, fang marks
clear in soft
flesh, open skin,
a sacrifice
willingly given
by Gala herself.

I stand in line patiently awaiting
my inevitable arrival, so far away
these gates of marble and fresco,
gleaming in golden sun much larger here.

So slow it moves this line I know,
yet matter not enthralled as we are,
moving ever closer, our eternal fates
as thoughts, creep forward, on step nearer.

Gunshots ring in alleys dripping
dark and wet, the red of blood
washed down gutters to oceans
far, my body cold as raindrops fall.

Empty Remains

tears fall
blood red
like rain
in a world
ruled by

lost souls
among ruins

fires burning
searing skin
from flesh
consuming all

and still

the search
for the love
you peeled
inch by inch
from my

Conflicted Faith

August 29, 2010 7 comments

We place our faith in people’s good,
Trust in broken promises, lost,
Gone ourselves in eclectic denials
Manifested by hope misguided.

Faith we place to Lords above,
No right, no wrong, just prayers
in a sea of simple beliefs.

Faith is polite yet ugly,
Serene while superficial,
Leading us blindly
with guiding light.

And yet, there is

no way to express, depth beyond
reasoning… Faith can be
anything, put forth by mind’s
in need, a need to see

the greater dream.

This was written for Sunday Scribblings and their prompt: Faith. I am playing around with longer poetry with longer thoughts rather than my normal short poetry (for those of you that follow my blog, you know the style I’m talking about). Hopefully it doesn’t dissapoint! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!

This was written for the Magpie Tales prompt based on the picture above. Thanks for stopping by and enjoying. I played around with some “broken” words… did it work? is my point coming across? Thanks for any feedback!

Thought Reflection…

August 27, 2010 7 comments

pensive thoughts
deep inside, a cave
of peace, a mind
at ease, so free,
stalactites high,
steady drops,
water dripping
into shallow ponds
reflecting colors,
pale and simple,
hues of greens
and purples,
my answers
sought, reflected.
