Life’s Road – a work in progress…

September 19, 2010 14 comments

So I am one of those bloggers/writers that like to get feed back. I mean REALLY like to get it. Good, bad, ugly, constructive… any which type of comments are great. So I occasionally post work that I don’t feel is in a completed form so I know what to tweak to make it better, to make it reach that level where I feel it could be a published piece of writing. This is one such piece… Enjoy!

white lines blur at the edge of my vision,
screaming out of control as I leave them behind,
always more ahead
                taunting, pleading
                                dragging me onward
down this merciless highway of hate and tears,

another cigarette out the window fed to the wind

moonlight chilling my soul like ice on a windshield
blinding my recklessness, fueling me forward
into wild unknown
                taking control
                                leaving no memory,
dust in the wind as blaring sirens attend their call.

Watching peaceful sleep;

No better place in the world

then here by your side.

Blissful ignorance;

My time spent now gone, wasted

with my selfish pride.

Cherish all you have;

Alone again, a lifetime

is a big number.

For todays Poetry Pantry I tried to write a love poem. Instead, I ended up with a semi love poem that ends painful. Don’t ask me why, love poetry is my Achilles’ heel. Hope everyone enjoys!

Water Post (no title) – Thursday Think Tank

August 26, 2010 26 comments

Here is my Thursday Think Tank post for Poet’s United. FORWARNING, there is some strong verbage near the end. Thanks for stopping by and reading.

water lost
to vagrant fate’s,
killed by man’s,
polluted tastes,
toxic sewage,
acid rain,
rape and pillage
lakes and lands,
oceans killed
by oil slicks,
those BP pricks
don’t give a Shit!

take back our
from corporate
do what’s right,
you know you can.

Hope everyone enjoyed. I really liked the concept and flow of this poem so I definitely think it will be creeping back up in the near future with full revision.

chains and shackles
devised by thee,

keep me rooted
immobile, un-free,

forgetting life
the joy it brings,

traded for pain
my own misery,

God above
If real and true,

bring the winds
fierce, unwavering,

uproot this tree
my life and pain,

break me down
so I may, one day,

get up again.

With all the poems I’ve read lately about war and such, I was inspired to write my own. This is a rough draft, definitely not finished by any means and is still untitled. Please enjoy and any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

no light at the end

this tunnel of war

just red of blood

upon sandy floors

death of innocents

both sides incur

yet all we receive

are His tears falling

mad at all

and still he

the sin of us all

the sin

of creation

the sin

of man.

(i) will

destroy this

place, reeking

of sweat and

tears (cried)

in misery

(for) loss of

self (the temple)

upon that

dirty bed

and the hard

as a dog

to him; (and)

he beat you

left you for

dead, but

vengeance is

his screams

piercing (the)

blizzard that

buries my (soul).

This was written for my final portfolio in last years ENG 224 class. And still, with the critique I was given, I cannot bring myself to change this poem in any way. I simply feel it is perfect the way it is.

Also, I’m still working on my personal challenge writing for the day. Sadly, I’ve been too busy at work today to write anything other than this blog post! Take care and happy reading!
